Writing fairytales

We read some fairytales by a wide range of well-known authors before we started. We then decided to write our own stories, to be read to Junior and Senior Infants. A number of them were chosen to be published, and we redrafted and typed them up.

Once our stories were ready, we started to illustrate them. We have many talented artists in our class, so lots of people got a chance to have a go. We had to plan carefully before we started, to make sure the picture related to the text.

We are really proud of our results! Our stories are nearly ready and we hope to read them to Juniors and Senior this week.

We are now working on non-fiction information booklets. We will put these up on the website as soon as they are ready!

Halleluyah Concert

Our choir reprsented the school in the RDS last Sunday. We are all so proud of their performance, and great fun was had by all. Thank you the many parents who came along to support the children. A particular thank you to Ms. O Sullivan, Ms. Parle and Mr. Flanagan who worked so hard to help with the success of the event.  Thank you to Ms Murphy for travelling with the children on the day.

Lighting of Xmas Tree and Crib in Village

last night the village came out in force, to support the opening of our Village Crib and the lighting of our tree. The school choir supported by the teachers, sang  carols to  rapturous applause from the large crowd which had gathered to witness this annual event. Thank you to everyone involved in helping to make this such a memorable night!.  As you can see from the photos, Santa couldn’t even afford to miss the excitement!

Art: looking and responding to different forest pictures

We looked at forest pictures created by a wide variety of artists. Some were in oil, some in pastel, some in ink.

We worked in groups to decide which pictures we liked best, and ranked them once we had agreed.

We then wrote about our favourite forest, describing it as well as how it would feel to be in it.

We really had to use our imaginations during this task and we are proud of our writing.
