Hands on Maths!

We have looked at place value, symmetry, angles and fractions this term and have enjoyed learning about them in a hands-on way!

We did a ‘mirror dance’ with a partner to help us learn about symmetry in shapes and objects.

To learn about fractions, we cut out a variety of shapes and folded them to split them into halves and quarters. We then shaded in different fractions of the shapes. To learn about angles, we made angle biters and measured things in the classroom and at home, for homework. We decorated our angle-biters for a display.

We used place value boards to help us to add without renaming, and it really helped us.

We are now very confident when adding bigger numbers and recognising symmetry around us. We enjoy working with fractions and can spot a right angle a mile away!
